Little sounds from after market subs in trunk.

Hello guys. I have been on this forum for a while, but never really had anything to say. Most of the things i could have replied to were threads that were months, or even years old. But anyways, there is very little sounds coming from the subs in my Year 2000 S500. I have the Bose speakers option, i have 3 subs in my trunk.

The stock 10" bose sub, and 2 alpine subs(w/alpine pdx 1.1000 amp)

when trunk is open, the 2 subs make sooooo much noise, its ridiculous, but when you close it, all of that insulation keeps the sound from coming out. Now I have no problem of the sound going outside, and disturbing other people, but, I can not even hear it from inside!!! haha! I mean you can hear it, it sounds amazing! but it is not enough.

I read some things on forums, I'm thinking I have to take the stock sub out, so there will be a gap from my trunk, to my rear deck lid, to the cabin. and sound can escape from the trunk through that gap because the Bose sub is gone.

Any suggestions on how to make more sound come from the subs to the cabin?

~~Thanks!

Taking the stock sub out is likely the best way. See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ing-now-2.html

taking out the sub is a nightmare, i did this also and ended up breaking it to get it out. Most people that i have read from here end up breaking into pieces to get it out. not pretty but i just got to fusterated. good luck

I took my stock sub with ease but the sub still seems very quiet haha well that's the quality of s-class insulation I guess! But if anyone else have other suggestions I'll be happy to hear them!

Oh, good grief.

Sell the amp and extra subs, restore the car to original, and make your car payment.

Talking The solution? Cops & neighbors' NIGHTMARE.. My setup.. haha

To get the most out of your S-CLASS you GOTTA go for W7 series woofers...... it is RIDICULOUS & a good 1000+watts amp or two... why? Because of the stupid firewall+gas tank!!! And taking out the stock sub doesn't make much difference anyways tried it before on a weaker setup than current, different benz. Unless you're wild like a freak in heat & rip the whole back area or expand the stock sub hole into a giant rectangle.. LOLLLLL hahahaha

What I did:

1) Kept stock amp, Bose speakers all around & disconnected / condemned the sub. (left it in place)

2) Ordered the following from JL Audio.. 1000/1v2 times two & for the subs I went all out for two 13W7 D1.5.. with all the wiring needed...

3) Hooked up the new amps to the stock amp... disabled Bose's ambient noise analyzer which in my case the mic was located in the same area of the teleaid mic, up in the guts of the dome lights + rear view mirror setup (to avoid that sudden jump in volume, YOU MUST TAKE CARE OF THIS MOD, just unplugged and voila! Or else you can give heart attacks to your friends & love ones sharing a ride.. lol).. ran the remotes through the left sides of the car (where the doors close, under the plastic covers inwards of the metal plates) all the way to the front console area... For the power switch I wired it in the cigar lighter set...and the main power directly on the 12V line of the car.. You need a switch, or else you'll kill your battery...

4) Mounted them in a discreet carpet matching box with both amps screwed on top sides of it... (so when trunk's open it ain't too flashy... oh and I managed to leave enough room for a medium suitcase & two small carry-on bags/mini luggage type.)

I strongly suggest if you do add after market amp(s) & sub(s)... MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE OF ALL THE KNOWN COMPLICATIONS YOU MIGHT FACE ONCE IT'S ALL IN PLACE.. The auto adjusting volume sensor/mic(there might be more than one depends on your model and year, Bose or not Bose..etc.) is the biggest pain of them all...

Now that you're all set with what ever brand/models you purchase/install.. please enjoy law enforcement & the death notes left in your mail box from the next door neighbors..... hahaha

(here's a pix I took... the mic wires were tucked away in the left area, between the roof & lining, a simple unplug!)

Found this very helpful diagram, showing you how to take apart the w220's dome lights assembly and accessing the roof area where the harnesses hides... Do this at your own risk BTW I can't be held liable for anything you might brake or damage.. I am just sharing my OWN experience.
