S430 Problem
Hi Guys,
I have owned a S430 MY2000 for about three years now. recently I noticed when I depress the brakes the last few seconds of stopping stage is a bit rough. it feels like the car resisting the slow down. it only happens during gentle braking at traffic lights for instance and not when i stop suddenly.
the other issue is when i floor the accelerator from stand still (kick-down switch). the engine revs up all the way to red and pauses there for about 2-3 seconds then shifts to the second and after than its all normal to the upper gears! this used to happen only randomly before but now it does it all the time.
after trying it hard a few times yesterday, the car started to run very rough. the engine was shaking while idle and felt like it is going to die. the car was barely moving for the next 15 minutes of the trip before getting it home. the accelerator wasn't responsive and the engine was misfiring. it felt like the car using only 20% of it's power to drag along and not running on all the cylinders or something! I parked up the car and when i drove it again after couple of hours it drove normally but only under soft driving conditions and I have not done it hard yet to see if the problem has got worse or not.
I remember when I purchased th car three years ago it acted the same during one of the test drives. the dealer told me he replaced the spark plugs and throw in a free 3 years full mechanical warranty.
I am taking it to my mechanic next week but I would really appreciate it if you guys let me know if you have experienced similar problem and how to address it.
