My 2003 S430 has 120k miles and in the past 5 months of ownership (7200 miles). It needed a new Airmatic pump because the relay (TYCO) stuck in the ON position. ($290 + 1 hour DIY) Replacing the relay i somehow killed the power distributor, ($900 Dealer). BTW disconnect the battery when working on these computerized cars. Oil change + Filter $70 + 1 hour DIY. Transmission mount ($20 + 1 hour DIY).
Total $1280 for 5 months (car was bought for $5600), Hopefully there isn't anymore trouble with this car.
