2004 s430 interior rearview mirror memory settings stuck
I have a 2004 s430 that I recently purchased. It has a memory interior rearview mirror. However, the memory positions for it are stuck and cannot be changed. When I reset the memory positions (1, 2 or 3), everything else like seats, steering wheel, etc. get set but the interior rearview mirror remains at some previous memory settings. This is a real pain because every time the key is inserted the mirror resets to the default 1 position.
Has anyone ever experienced this? And if so what was your fix? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

i have not experienced anything like this with any of the mirrors in my 2004 W220. In fact, I've never noticed my mirrors moving on their own other than the side view mirrors folding in and out. I guess I need to do some RTFM-ing to see if I can get mirror presets memorized
try turning off the setting to remember each key's presets upon entry, turning the ignition on and off (probably don't have to actually start the car), and then see if the 1-2-3 preset buttons work with the mirror
good luck

No, you are not alone with this problem. I have a 2003 with the same issue. Everything can be properly programmed except for the inside mirror. I too am looking forward to a "fix".

Would you say it is proof that every time I get into the car, the mirror moves? The SA code for the memory package is 275. This is on an '03 S500 4Matic Canadian Edition.

Thanks for Hockey Night!
edit: since it exists, maybe it can be added to a US W220. What is the part number on your mirror? It must be the part that has the motor in it, so the upgrade could be plug & play, plus a little wake-up call to the star system

The solution is easy because since MY 2004 you dont have this option anymore.
If available buy a new old rearview mirror with memory option. Should not much more than $1000.
(the rest of the electronics/cables does still exist)
Cheers, Frank

The earlier W220s - '00 through '03 - had the interior mirror memory. U.S. spec '04 through '06 definitely did not. I understand it was a problem, and was deleted. Shame - I liked the feature.

I've tried page 85. Is there any method of wiping out the previously stored memories in order to start all over? Regardless of how many times I try pg 85 the mirror ends up reverting to a previous setting. It's not a real P.O. but it is annoying.
