Aftermarket performance... where to find?

I'm looking for a thread/website that goes over aftermarket performance modifications, bolt-on or what have you. Maybe some how-to's with stuff that's been done. Anyone read anything good for our cars?

2000 Mercedes Benz S500 Designo
The S500 (and S-Class in general) is not some rice boxer that has hundreds of bolt on performance mods. Further on that note, not many people who own S500s would want to turn them into performance beasts – they are luxury sedans.

That said, there are some options out there, just be ready to lay down some dough. Any of the big Mercedes aftermarket companies (Brabus, Lorinser, Kleeman, what have you) will have to an extent some program or tune for either your ECU or TCM. Be ready to throw down at least a grand per tune. Aftermarket exhaust is an easier challenge, but unless you plan on tackling this yourself you'll be paying a shop for their time. Again – expect to throw down a grand. Some of the less expensive options would be lightened pulleys or a sprint booster.

I've seen people talk about crazy things they have done to their M113 engines, but so comes the concept that with enough money, you can do anything to any engine. Bottom line, while the 5.0L SOHC V8 is a powerful tank of an engine, its not built for racing. If you're looking for a race car, consult the AMG division of Mercedes. With an AMG not only comes more power and a performance built and balanced engine, but a world of aftermarket tuning options.
