New rims

well i got new rims on my s500 but i have a feeling it will start a stir
please remember the fact is im 18
the reason i say it might start something is because there SPINNERS
yes spinners.. the rims that keep spinning after u stop
there pretty tight and my mom and dad even like them (if they like them then everyone should like them) there even against the whole rim idea

Here are there words exactly "You have AMG and you want RIMS"

btw they look like ld1s but their not TOTAL cost was 4500 from superbuytires.com

neways heres 2 pics i have a video but i dont have newhere to store it

those will turn heads, but i think its taking away from the simplistic elegance of the car of the s-class and turning it more into a pimped out gangsta ride, some people dont think the s-class was meant for that, it loses some "class", i changed my 19" chrome amgs out for 18" amg allow cl55 rims.

Spinners do not do any justice for this classy car. Save that bull for candy painted Escalades and Impallas. These rims add an element of "ghetto fabulousness", which detracts from the car's appearance. Oh, but then again, tHis is just my opinion...

i agree with internet mafia that "spinners" dont belong on s class's but i do believe "Davins" do. in my opinion if you can afford an s500 you can fork out the money for davins. if you dont know the difference between davins and the spinner ad ons then you have no clue whats really going on.

Yeah, I've seen Davins before. They are in a league of their own. But $16k for rims is a little steep if you know what I mean. IMO rims aren't not worth that much, being that in 6 months you will want to see something "new" on your car. I have 20" Ferretti Palermo's on my S and while I got a lot of praise for them, I admit that now they don't impress me anymore. I want something new.

yuck

dont give chrome a home. IMO save the spinner stuff for snoop dawg or tupac's ride... belongs on a 75' cadi, or a 6-4 impalla...ghetto

I agree, the wood-trim davins spinning are out of this world, i saw some for like 11,000$ for 19's, if u got wood trim on your rims while they spin, that adds to the class. but imitations kinda don't

see u all say this but have no experience
today u should have seen how many peeps look and say wow great rims
even the older people like then (shocker to me)

but if i dont like them i can always take them off thats what the diff is between wid davins and spinners
i like my choppers and isnt that what really matters i mean u dont buy a 100 grand car just for (the ride) u buy if because people look at u differently, u can show off in other words
so
this is the hip thing right now and i only have seen one other person with spinners. once it gets old i can always take them off

ps who in the world would spend 11 gs on rims ummm nooo way
i dont have that kind of money to blow on rims

We're all entitled to our own opinions but I think that if one buys a car just to look good, he/she may need a little modesty. tmushy, you're a young guy and I remember being your age (since it wasn't so long ago) but since I've gone through that stage you're going through right now, I can tell you it's not worth it. Sure, you get the "ooooh's" and the "aaaah's" for a little while but remember that with admirers come haters as well. They go hand in hand. Don't you think it would be too bad to go class and come back out to see your car vandalized because you wanted people to "look at u differently?" They'd definitely look at you differently with a keyed S-class and broken windows. You may not think it happens but it really does. There are stupid people out there who are either just jealous or don't like people's flashiness. I, myself, will drive my 01 VW Passat to my university's parking lot and my S55 to work. The reality is people our age don't think far enough.

Just my 2 cents...nice rims though.

ur right its at my age ill probably grow out of it i enjoy it for now
but bout that hater thing i feel ya ur right on that one. i go to a private school for now so its a closed gate but when i get to college i plan on taking this 1980's mazda we own thanks for the compliment on the rims

btw np why in the world would i pay 6gs for lowenhart ld1s when i can get rims that look exactly the same (i can also get the lowenhart cap) for only 2100?
unless u got tons of money to waste it doesnt seem smart

The difference between knock off and real LD1's is the fact the lowenharts are forged rims. Forged rims have much better survival rates when hitting pot-holes, also they're lighter. The other knock off rims are just cast. Forging does require more than normal labor and machine time, there fore the price must increase commensuritly.

Any real enthusiast can tell the difference,.look at how much deeper the real ld1s are compared to the katanas or any of the other replica ones. But like you said you only paid 2100 you get what you pay for. In my opinion if you can afford an s500 you should be able to afford the real rims not some cheesy imitations.

On a slightly different note, I'm considering putting the RENNtech 19" forged wheels on my S600. They're about 8 lbs lighter each than the stock AMG wheels, and they're a bit wider to boot. I haven't seen a picture of them on a silver S600 yet, however, so I'm not sure how they will look. I'm primarily doing it for performance and so I can clear those mammoth 8-piston RENNtech front brakes...

WTF does $6000 get? With most rims and knock off's that how it goes, anyway, i prefer HRE's to almost anything. Very pricey around $5000 for a custom set. Anyone have them on an s?
