If this car had belong to anyone else would you even consider buying it? (Yes/No) 235k plus miles is a lot on any car, yes I know MB are special. You said your boss makes 7 figures, so he could afford to pay the dealer for repairs. Ask him for records and take the car to a MB dealer to have it checked out. You may not have that kind of $$$ for repairs. No matter how you look at it, dealer or indy these cars cost a lot to repair eg, transmission, engine, suspension etc. This forum is very helpful but remember, you are not a DIY so you will have to pay to have things done. Ask your boss to let you have it for less than 5K. Getting the car is the easy part, up keeps are where a lot of people fall short because of cost. I am not trying to influence you in any way but just to let you have a sense of reality. Which ever way you go I believe that you will make the right choice.
