K&N Filters impressions for my S55
So my stock filters were due for changing, so I figured I'd try the K&N filters. Normal driving, I did not really hear much of a difference exhaust wise, nor did I feel much power difference. But I did notice that if I really wring the car out, like putting it in sport mode and shifting gears manually, it does seem to be pulling a little bit stronger and more aggressively. It could also be the cold weather that makes it faster, but I think this may be happening. Hard to tell, the placebo affect can be tough since you cannot really gauge how a filter performs!
Anyone else have any experiences on the W220 platform, S55, etc?
As to how much, well that does vary from model to model.
I have used, and will continue to use K/N's in every car I own. Since about 85 now, God I'm old.
Bottom line is they do work. Are they worth the cost, IMHO yes.
And yes, please don't use an entire can of Oil on them as it is NOT required or recommended. Heck I have several cans of the stuff lying around as you get one with the cleaning kit which I use about every 50K for street cars, more often for my fun cars, ha, ha.

Also, they simply do not filter as well as stock. Thats been proven based on UOAs that show an increase in silica in the oil, and several tests.
I can't see a single reason to run K&N on either of my cars.

There have been several dynoed cars on the C32, C63, and I believe E55's showing small gains.
Could it be the dyno fluctuations, maybe

However I still use and believe in them

And they have DIFFERENTLY been proven back in the 90's on Mustangs for 8-10RWHP. As I was one of them.
