Post The $25 mod for your W220...

I just wanted to show my $25 mod on my W220. Its the flat hood emblem replacement. Don't get me wrong I love the ornament that the car comes with stock, but I am tired of leaving the car wash with it at an angle coming out of the movies, mall, dinner, whatever and someone was touching it or couldnt break it off. So I just decided to go with the flat hood emblem. It updates the look and I dont have to worry about it when I leave the car. It took all of 5 minutes to take the old one off and put this one on. Here are the pics:

I love my hood star too! I just got so used to looking at it when I'm driving or looking at the car facing me. It is too iconic to let go of for me.

Although I do understand the carwash thing and people stealing it - but so far that hasn't happened so I'll keep it!

carwash thing? It's spring loaded, so it will pop back to original position if it's knocked-off position.

i like my hood star also. classic.

No handwash? You take your car through the automated carwash?

I have always been more particular to the flat badge.
The raised Mercedes star made me feel like I was driving some old man's car.

Post ROMOVAL OF STAR

I want to make the same swap. When looking at the Star assembly from the hood underside, I thought I was looking at a plumbing fixture. Is that "thing-with-wings" simply a strange looking nut that unscrews? I hate to bust the sucker. Pls advise on how to remove. Thx, Don
