Rust on lower of all four doors 2002 s430

I'm in the same situation. The dealer has agreed to replace all 4 doors but they won't pay for any other part of the car. So the estimate for me, out of pocket would be $4,000. basically fixing and painting the entire car. I have a 2001 s430.

Why are you painting the entire car? Do you have problems on other areas of the car?
My car is in excellent shape and they are blending the doors.
I have always kept it in a garage and never drive it in the winter.

2002 S500 with rust
Appreciate suggestions here. I got into a minor accident and took my car to the local body shop to repair the front right fender. I had noticed a couple months back some paint had pealed away on the lower part of the front passenger side door revealing rust.
So I figured I'd see if I could get that repaired by the body shop. The person there walked around my car showing how all 4 doors are rusting from the inside out! He said I'd be looking at $7k to replace all the doors on the car because of this design flaw.
Do I go to the MB dealer here - or MB HQ? Appreciate suggestions.
My car has 85k miles and is garaged.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to start with the dealer. Of course they are probably going to say there is nothing they can do. However, you might want to mention some of the information cited in these forums.
Way back when I lived in the northeastern USA I would occasionally get rust on my cars because of all the salt they use in the winter.

I have a 2001 and about 2 years ago I went back and forth with my local shop and they replaced all four doors. I ended up paying about $1,500 for new fender and extra blending. It's now perfect. Be persistent. I was lucky, I met a Mercedes exec at a golf outing and he helped. You may want to find a corporate name and email them first. Then drop their name. Good luck.
