Major Vandalisation!!!

Drove my S500 to an outer suburb of Sydney called Penrith, not a very affluent area. I purposely parked as far away from other cars as possible, unfortunately this ended up working against me. When I returned to my car two hours later it was sitting on blocks, rims gone! I had just put brand new 18" AMG light alloys on 245/45 R18 tyres at the front and 265/40 R18 on the rear. The police thought that it was hillarious when they arrived, their comment was effectively that I deserved it for driving such an expensive car into their neighborhood and that i could afford new rims anyway so it didn't really matter. I find it hard to believe that the theives could have managed to jack the car up and remove all four wheels without a passer by noticing. To add insult to injury the side skirt now needs replacing as they obviously didn't use the supplied jack and inserts. Cars in the shop but now need to replace with stock wheels as the dealer says I can expect to wait at least a month for the replacement rims. Never again will I go for a leisurley Sunday drive in Sydney's Western Suburbs.

no but it probably wouldn't have been a bad idea for insurance purposes, at the time running home to pick up my digital camera wasn't my first thought. Luckily the insurance company is coughing up without any debate, must be a first.

Thats what happens when you constantly elect socialists/liberals/commies to run your government.
Aussies are notorious for that!
Liberals have nothing to show really,so they run on class envy, blaming the "rich" for every misfortune that happens to the "poor".
They keep forgetting who really provides jobs to the rest and who is really paying the taxes.

Last I checked some ultra right wing crackpot was running for office in NSW or somewhere like that. Left wing has nothing to do with it, if that was the case Europe would be the worldest largest crime scene.

I stopped parking way out a long time ago. I realized that when you do so, its just like advertisement to vandals. When you park next to other cars and close objects, it makes it harder for people to get unrestricted access to your car. Besides, if its door dings that you are worried about, your side molding prevents most doors from "bumping" into yours.

Whereabouts in Penrith did you park?
IMO the western suburbs doesn't have such a high crime rate... most incidents occur in the North Shore and Eastern Suburbs... probably because they're more affluent and easier targets as well.

I doubt they will be able to sell those rims though, being so unique...

Penrith isn't a very high crime area, just very blue collar and a Mercedes in that area is very rare. In fact my parents were originally from that area and I have driven my car there at least a dozen times and never encountered a problem, while the north shore and eastern suburbs while being very expensive have higher rates, unfortunately in this case conspicuous consumption attracts criminals.

By the way was talking to a rep from Sanderson's Eastern Suburbs, apparently their yearly consignement of CL's were driven off the docks, three were found in Eastern Suburbs garages, one picked up on William's Street(major road in Sydney) with no plated and protective plastics still on and the other two have vanished. I'm keeping my eyes out for a cheap buy!

sorry E552NV

To answer your question in Penrith Plaza basement level. As you can imagine considering the volume of foot traffic in the area I was amazed that noone spotted the thieves.
