BMW Owners Regret

Yesterday I decided to check out a BMW forum to see what was going on with the competition. Under the 750 forum I noticed how there are so many owners who aren't happy. Quite a few of them stated they purchased their 750 because they couldn't afford a S class. The majority of the post were singing the praises of the S-Class and how inferior the Beemer was compared to it.

What I took from this forum was that you shouldn't settle on a car or anything if you're not happy. The owners complained from the outdated style to the poor overall construction and how they should have purchased the "s."

I'm interested in hearing your views on if any "s"owners have buyers remorse or was in a similar situation as theses 750 owners.

I'm not..yes the 220 has some niggling issues but my particular example is solid, enjoyable to drive and every time I walk up to it I think about just how nice looking it is

I guess with any car it depends on your personal experience. I would have expected a few complaints but there was so many. and what shocked me the most was it was on their forum.

My wife has a BMW and it sure is more of a sport feel, sure handles better and sharper but Id rather have comfort and smoothnes of benz. However, I do wish that I had bimmers tranny. It's much quicker to downshift and make the car go. Benz goes to granny mode and does not want to leave. I hate it. I also can not stand BMW gauges. It's impossible to scroll through efectively and you can't tell what the hek you are looking at. Benz is much more intuitive and easy to read.

I thought you were talking about the E65/E66 forum and thought you were mad...then you gave a link to the F01/F02 forum. Yeah, I never knew anything could be worse than the "Bangle Butt" until I joined Bimmerfest

BMW 7 series
Mercedes S-class cannot come close to handling and feel of a 7 series

but the ride in an S-class is very plush

That is exactly my point. depends on what you like. BMW handles better but In a Benz the ride is softer, you feel less of the road and potholes yet still a better handling than 90% of cars out there. However, if you are a lucky owner of a Benz with ABC, then I think the handling difference is none existent.

false.

the S-class handles like a boat. Reason? It is a boat.

Folks, talking about the handling capabilities of 4400lb full sized luxury sedans is absolutely asinine.

Drive a lotus elise, then get into an S or a 7, even with ABC, and tell me its a good handling car.

I have driven a few of those that you mentioned, and I would STILL say for its size, read weight here, that it IS a decent handling vehicle.

It is by FAR no corvette, or GT3, but it is decent. Again for its size.

Besides I did take 2nd out of 10 in an autocross with her

Edit: The ABC system does a tremendous job at keeping this BOAT level during a slalom, IMHO, and others at the Autocross.

thats fine. If you want to compare handling from one luxo boat to the next, thats fine (although I don't see the point). But to say an S handles better than 90% of the cars out there is a bit silly.

Your final point. Yes, ABC is good, but it won't defy the laws of physics when you stuff 4400lbs of **** iron into a turn.

Once again agreed. I just said and agree with that for its class, aka tonnage, it is one of the best.

It is NOT a sports car by any shape of the mind.

I love the exterior look of the "7" series, however I do not like the dash and consul. I have no regrets about my "S", I love it's interior/exterior look, and comfortable ride and lots of power thru the RPM's. The car still turns heads. There are some issues like other cars but nothing I can't live with. . There are somethings that I would do away with and other thing I would add, like a better cup holder.

I think you are jumping to conclusions here. I did say that Benz handles better than 90% of cars, I did not specifically ment the S. Even if I was specifically talking about the S class I still think it would hold water. Besides the upper 10% such as corvette Porsche some japs such as Z and NSX and such the S class does have better handling even if it is a tank.
