S 320Cdi Jerk Gear Changes and Parking aid problems :-(

Hiya, as a new to Mercedes and S Class owner I am enjoying owning the wonderfull S Class 320Cdi but have two annoying problems which I have listed below and wondered if any more expereienced owners may be able to give me some advice on both.

1. The gearbox seems very snatchy and jerky when cold but improves somewhat when the engine is warm. I have also noticed that on very steep inclines the car doesnt seem to want to pull at all but I am talking about very steep inclines.. Also sometimes when going round roundabouts when the car is cold there is a terrible deep noise which seems to be associated with the gearbox coming from the rear of the car.

2. The Parking sensors for the most part are fine and work fine but sometimes they fail and switch themselves off. I have noticed that they nearly always seem fine on cold days or at night but on hot days they nearly always fail. I have also noticed that sometimes when reversing down the lane I park in that the overhanging bushes and weeds (neigbours garden) seem to set the sensors off and send it into fail as well.

Any advice on both problems would be very gratefully accepted.
