Problems with s-class w220 COMAND system

Hi,

I have just bought an s-class w220 320L auto (year 2000).
VIN number: WDB2201652A126481
First registered: 15/06/2000

Problems are:
1)the navigation CD that came with it does not work
2)i cannot change the language from german to english
3)the tv tuner doesn’t work
4)the nokia mobile in the centre console doesn’t work

The CD states it is a teleatlas year 1999.

The COMAND unit is the old one, which has the cassette tape in it.

The language is in German and i cannot change it as the option for the change is greyed out and cannot be selected.

The sat nav does not work also. The screen just stays on the loading screen and nothing happens.

I have read the manual and online forums but i think i have read too much and now i am even more confused than when i first started!

I have a built in factory fitted Nokia 3110 mobile inside the centre console box. This mobile does not work either. It turns on only if it is still plugged into the charger. When i di put a sim card in (o2 pay as you go sim) theres no reception.

I have taken many photos of the COMAND unit which I can email if you need more information.

So my questions are:
1) Do i need a firmware update (and how to do this) or a new navi CD to get the navigation system working.

2) if i need a new navi cd, which one?

3) How to make the tv tuner work?

4) How to change the nokia mobile to a newer mobile?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

On my 2004 MB S500, I swapped out my old NAV DVD player (located on the LHS in the trunk), with an exact working replacement. Part #: 2208206085. I bought the used player from California and I live in Maryland. The replacement NAV player accepted my NAV DVD, updated the software but defaulted to the LAST destination it has been – somewhere in California. How do I reset the NAV system to show my current location?

Realizing that this is a rather old thread....

One good upgrade for the pre-facelift W220's is an Android head unit. Yep, they make 'em specific for W220's, and I have put one in the project 2000 S500 (the wife's car). The thing has the "post-facelift" look and works very well. Takes a bit of work to install, but boy, was it worth it.
