Is your car parked on a level surface or on a slight angle, because cars with air suspension like the S and E Class will auto level themselves. My car does it all the time, where I park, one side is slightly higher then the other. But when I'm on a level surface their perfect. I would drive around for a few minutes, park the car on a flat surface wait for about 15 minutes for the suspension to drop as it does, then measure it again. if it's still off, then a visit to a shop may be needed, to diagnose your problem. My car when the doors are unlocked, the car's air compressor kicks on raising the car. I thought that I had an issue a few weeks ago, as the car was sitting low on one side, until I remember this fact.

PS. I just look in extended warranty paper and DAME! It just expired on April 15 2011. It will kill me if end up a lot money to repair that problem. I drive the car only 3k miles in the last 19 months and extended warranty cost 3,995 plus 99.88 tax = 4094.88 for 24 months. Bought the car 28k mi for $27k from previous owner who bought a warranty (not a single cent to spend in warranty very stupid decision make)
If you had an airmatic issue you would see your car settle to the ground if you leave it sitting that much and don't drive it.
Park it in the garage and measure from the center of the wheel to the lip of the fender on all four wheels. Then measure from the ground to the lip and see what the variability is corner to corner.
Even with that...If you're not walking out to a car sitting super low you're ok.

. I should take the car to dealer to let them check over every thing before extended warranty exp. on 4-15-11, so it'll peace of mind but I didn't. I was thinking I still have serveral months left a BIG mistake. The car only with a little over 29K mi kept supper clean and I will be so mad if these items are air leak or cracks and have to pay $$$.THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL REPLIES THAT MAKE MY DAY EASIER, LIGHTER

after replacing rear axles, and removing the diff and putting everything back together, my 00 S500 rear passenger wheel sits really high. I can put my whole fist and still don’t touch the fender. I thought that’s rear level sensor and replaced it, but no fix. Resetting the battery did not help either. It just sits almost all the way high, just that wheel.
