I'm not trashy?

flagship? come on. In most urban areas, every young "baller" has a 2000 black S500 on 20s.

They've fallen into the wrong hands...which befalls all luxury cars that plummet in value.

Whose hands are the " wrong hands" ? I sense a pompous racist among us.

There is nothing wrong with urban kids driving a s500 if they can afford it

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand what qualifies to be "wrong hands."
Maybe OliverK could elaborate. Is it the color of their skin? Is it the music that they listen to? Enlighten us.

He didn't mention race or color.
I can't read his mind but from reading his post I was assuming he was referring to what they do with the car when they get it.
I assume that he is older because he seems to think that 20's are too larger, but generally he just means outrageous and pointless mods that spoil the class of the car.

the wrong hands are the people that buy 20" rims while their car is slammed to the ground due to a failing airmatic. Or those that spend all their money on hideous bodykits. Generally those that do cheesy mods and don't actually maintain the car properly. The fact that they think it makes them a "baller" is another issue.

Race has nothing to do with it. White, black, hispanic, asian, I've seen it all.

The problem is that most can afford the car, but not the correct repairs. So they buy the biggest rims they can afford and ignore the rest of the stuff that actually matters.

its all for show.

P.S. I think you may be the first person to make my ignore list.

Very good points, I have seen it all as well. For the record, I am about 10 years older than you, and can agree on this. I tried the 20's for a little over two years, and I don't care what anyone says, 20's on any MB is rough as hell, the ride, bumps, feel like boulders. Pothole hit? Doesn't matter with cast of forged, depending upon the size you got problems, speaking from experience. 19's, and no bigger, anything more it's on you.

Whatever there's gas in...
A car falling into the "wrong hands" doesn't change the fact that its a flagship vehicle, in my area there's a few Phantoms, that if OliverK saw them, he would have a coronary. I'm not comparing a Phantom to a W220 but my point is, just because a few may be modded not to your taste or just downright awful, doesn't take away from the caliber of the vehicle..No matter the blue book value.

It WAS a flagship vehicle...now its just a cheap used car.

Just like this Roller was a flagship, now people damn near pay you to take them.

Not to mention I don't think anybody really cares that it was a flagship, women or otherwise. They just know big benzes are expensive new A smart gold digger is going to know that if she's judging a dudes net worth by the car he drives, a 220 is not likely to be worth her time.

Maybe some of us who bought our cars brand new still aren't ready to hear that they're cheap used cars just yet, ok?

Agreed to disagree, the Silver Spur is still a sweet ride by the way.

look, first YOU think rolls royces are ugly, a lot of people don't.

secondly, there is no 220, regardless of model, options, whatever that will ever and I mean EVER become a collectible.

A 300sl from 1957 sure, a 2006 s600? no way in hell.

I love love love my s-class but I'm not of the delusion that its worth much, that it will be worth much, or that women get somehow aroused by the fact that I own one, even though the guy at the burger king drive through could also.

i dont really care to argue with you, people have stated opinions in this thread and so have you. maybe the reason panties dont drop down for you is because your ugly? idk all i can say it has worked for many numerous times, not that i really care if it does or not. FACT = i work in the auto industry, 100's of people have seen my car and till this day i get comments. FACT = it doesnt really matter anyways, but the reason y you get so heated about should be of question...

Or maybe his standards are a lot higher than yours.

Frankly speaking, most consumers indeed understand very little in MB models. To them, anything with the star is same, regardless of the model year. At best, they would differentiate a bigger Benz from a smaller one. And yes, I suppose a lot of guys with nothing else to offer take advantage of such girls. The other day I saw some "baller" near a club in the exact same RR as posted above; naturally, there were a few very worn skirts standing around.

Some interesting contradictions in this post. First, you bring up a while back that your 220 is a "panty dropper", now you state that it has worked numerous times, but you "don't care if it does or not". If you didn't care, why would you bring it up?

You work in the auto industry? doing what? Selling used cars?

I'm not heated in the least bit, but I do find it laughable that people roll around in 5-11 year old benzes thinking they are hot **** or that the car is a panty dropper. Its just lame and reeks of "im trying to hard"

I suppose its possible that I am ugly...I'll look into that.

yup its the same story all the time. The guy who needs to bring up what he's banging is usually the one that doesn't have much to brag about.

Furthermore, its not like picking up a rough drunk chick in a club is hard. Buy her a couple drinks and it probably wouldn't matter if you drove a 86 chevy.

Cars are a passion and a tool for transportation. Anyone that uses them to try to get girls is pathetic.

Ask any realtor or attorney if a car is more than just a tool for transportation. It is an important business image accessory. Most will not drive clients in a 2011 Corolla but will drive them in a pristine 2000 w220, which costs even less.

Why would my realtor or lawyer drive me anywhere to begin with? Anyway, I would judge the quality of their work by the results and not the kind of car they drive. Maybe you meant a rapper...

bull****.

The only reason they wouldn't drive a corolla is because its too small.

My real estate agent could drive a full size buick, caddy, toyota, or whatever, and I couldn't care less. As long as its clean on the inside and not a total pos, why would I care? My RE agent drove a lexus I think.

Also, for some reason I don't think the realtor's car is slammed to the ground with 22s on it, right?

furthermore, my lawyer is not driving me anywhere. He parks his car in the garage (which I don't see), and parks god knows where at the court house.

Not to mention, I'm not going to think a "lawyer" has made it when he arrives in any 220. Whats the most expensive one cost these days? 50k?

Maybe a brand new 2011 S65 I might say nice car, but if he doesn't produce results, who cares what the guy drove to court in.

Although sometimes his posts might seem a little rude to some of you here, Oliverk is usually on point as far as a straight-forward opinion of what's right and wrong in this forum.

I think as far as illusions go... to a "normal" person any W220/W221 would seem like a very rich and luxurious vehicle (which it is) and as long as it's shiny and clean, there's nothing better looking than a W220 sedan. The car has timeless styling and has a very big presence.

Now as far as BIG chrome wheels, eBay grills, eBay door sills, eBay chrome rings, eBay door handle inserts and eBay LEDs - that's always been a big no-no for me and I think it's an insult to Mercedes in a way. The car's body is PERFECTION from the factory, no need to tack on anything else.

These are just my two cents... coming from someone who has owned three W220's in the past 6 years.
