'00 S500 Engine Problem Or Normal With All The S-classes???
i just got my car on the road today since i bought it last week. stretched it's legs and it drives smooth like butter. the only thing i realized is when i'm parked and i rev my engine, my car begins to sort of shake or vibrate once i exceed 4000 rpm. i have no idea why and the car is still under warrantee. can anyone help me out because i won't be able to go to the dealership until tuesday.
on another note, has anyone put on 'the green stuff' brake pads? it claims to cause a lesser amount of brake dust. i believe that there has to be a direct relationship between brake wear and brake dust; where the more the brake pads are worn down the more brake dust shows up. i've heard 'the green stuff' wears out quick though. if anyone knows anything i'd be interested. thanks

I think the reason why it's shaking when u hit about 4100-4200 RPMs, theres a rev limiter to prevent damage to the engine while its idling...so thats why. Thats normal on all MBs, not just to S-Classes.

why rev it to that much while idling anyways, cant be good for the car.

truthfully, i might have had one or two drinks and was in a parking lot with a couple friends who were revving their engines so i decided to do the same.

rev is not good for anything except one of those cars you'd see in 2F2F like a civic or integra manual tranny. auto tranny don't handle revving, cuz theres no reason to. Especially if youre talkin about an s-class, wtf you revvin that for? Also especially if your in park, not good idea at all, its less damaging if you do it in neutral, still it cant be good for it.
