W220 S600 Mods - Rear Fridge and Folding Tray Tables

So today I got my rear fridge and folding tray tables for my 2004 S600.... Now on to installation.....The folding rear tray tables are easy... The fridge is the issue. It seems like I'm going to have to cut through the trunk carpet cloth to get this to fit correctly. And it's supposed to be plug and play but I cant find anywhere to plug it into??? Note: it is a Mercedes Fridge for the W220, but I believe these were only in the Euro Spec ones. Anyone have some insight for me???

Are you in the US? If so, cutting a hole into the trunk for the fridge would be cutting through your gas tank. It may be cool to have a fridge in the back, but your car won't run.

As with all things Mercedes, one needs to thoroughly research adaptability and installation prior to purchase. Parts for European models are not always adaptable to US models or Asian models, for that matter. I've only seen one 'trunk refrigerator' in the US though I'm not sure whether it was a US or European model. However, I do not recall it as an option for US vehicles. If you have the MB assembly number from the refrigerator, you can check the on-line EPC or with your local MB Parts folks. They can tell you if it's applicable to your model. Good luck.
Cheers,
Jeff

For U.S. models, the gas tank is behind the rear seat. I believe there are two batteries, both in the trunk area. There is one you can access next to the spare wheel and another behind the trunk panels.

That sucks, did you buy it from IwoS500 here on the forum? He's been trying to sell it for a long time. I posted in his FS thread at length a few months ago explaining the US models can't use the fridge (which is why he was selling it BTW). It also sucks because people ask if it will fit in their car and he always says "I think so" or "it should".

Mysteriously, the original FS thread from August has been deleted?

Yea, I purchased it from him.... He told me it is "Plug and Play", thats why I purchased it, because he said it will work. Maybe a PayPal chargeback is in order??

Wow, that really blows. What a shady seller. He was told by me and others that the fridge won't fit in US spec cars, still he continued to try and sell it to other US members.

I would get a Paypal refund, and make sure you don't pay shipping to get it back to him, he should have to cover that cost. I would definitely say the item was not as described, and was missing major features that the seller told you the item would have. Such as "plug and play" functionality.

A Mercedes obviously!
Where did you get the tray tables?

My father had them on his UK spec '00 S500 and I thought they looked great. Added an almost RR/Bentley feel to the back seats with all that extra wood. It's too bad I never saw them as an option on US models. I'd be wary of your ventilated front seats as I'm fairly certain that the cooling function was piped in straight from the AC when there were rear tray tables. Whereas on models without the tray tables there are inlets on the back of the front seats where the air is sucked in from...

If you have a Euro Spec S Class the fridge would fit. I am open to offers unless I can get a refund from the seller, then I'll send it back to him....
