Present Model Life

Hi All,

I'm a first time MB buyer and recently purchased the 2003 S350. I like the car very much but getting conflicting info on when the present model be replaced by a new shape. I see some members posting 2005 models whilst my dealer told me 2006 willbe new shape. Is there a standard life span for S-class or does it depend on popularity.

Regards

mercsd,

The new S-Class will be introduced at the Geneva auto show in the Fall of 2005 meaning that it will be here (USA) anywhere from Spring to Fall 2006 as the 2007 model. I talked to my dealer here in California and he confirmed it.

Thanks for the reply Karma. So 1999-2006 aka 8 years cycle. Is that standard for the S class or depends.

ya~that's sounds about right~previous S class had on average 8-10 years of life span~but nowadays~they tend to keep up with other competitors by introducing new model earlier than before~

marklu,

Yipe, they seem to be under pressure from the new 7 series and the A8. However I dont know why; I steered clear from the 735 as my boss who has one told me re: the electronic glitches he's been getting on his six month old car. Also another friend who has a 745 is negotiating a return due to "very similar" electronic problems. My bosses car has a permanent "tyre problem" alarm which just wont go away.

I think if MB stick to their guns the new 7series will fall out of taste soon (IMHO) and sales for the existing S model will improve.
