too good to be true?
1) this guy i found on ebay claims he'll sell me a new set of real lorinser chrome lm 5 rims with new pirelli p zero tires for $1,800. does this sound like a scam?
2) i know someone who will put a chip in my COMAND in order to make it play dvd's. the problem is i'm concerned whether or not the quality of the picture would be good or not? if it's poor, can i just buy a tv monitor the same size and make the switch?
thank you
as for scams....go to the S55AMG list and read the scam story that happened to me this past week. there are some slick people out
there.
the reason they dare to do that is cuz its really hard to tell real LM5s from the fake ones. i heard about that deal too, a friend of mine was gonna go for it, i told him there is no way you can do it... a set of 19inch original LM5s retail for about 5400 and that is withour tires.

how can u make the comand play dvds when its only a cd player(well for the 2000 you have it is)? u would need to buy a seperate dvd player and connect it to it.
I agree, i'd be a little more than just wary of this guy.

as for the dvd playing in the comand, my friend talked to a very reputable person who knows mercedes' very well and claims by installing a chip it would allow it to play dvd's. what do you think your navigation cd is? a dvd format. the comand won't play cd's. i also have seen this done to somebody's car in texas who had a lorinser dtm kit and 20" chrome brabus wheels. although the guy who would do the installation claims the picture quality won't be that of a 'plasma tv', but it would still be good enough to enjoy the movie.
thanks for the replies. i don't think i'm gonna go ahead with the transaction because he hasn't e-mailed me again which shows that he could be aware that I am suspicious. also, i've changed my mind about wanting lm5's, still looking around for the perfect wheels.

But anyways, it is possible for COMAND to play DVD's. You need an external dvd player, an RGB adapter, and someone with a DAS labtop to turn on the option.
COMAND is in cd format. There's no way they are DVD's because i have ripped a couple of them onto my harddrive already and they are no where near the 700megabyte mark even yet. So just a single chip will NOT make the COMAND cd laser more intense (is that right?) to read dvd discs.
