2002 S500 Need Rims!!!

I am new to this forum and just picked up a silver S500 with only 3K on it. I need rims and tires bad! They have the stock 16 inch rims which I don't like. I am from Cerritos, CA. Where to buy them and what size should I go for? I drive alot and have a new born. But I need some wheels with a nice lip and some tires! Don't want sacrifice the ride, but still want to look sporty/classy as well! Thank you.

Thank you. So 20s all around is the way to go?

Dude!! You asked this on 3 other different necro-threads before you got the idea to start your own thread?

If you trade the 16s for 20s you will be putting about 75% LESS tread between the rim and the road. This WILL absolutely sacrifice a lot of ride quality. The W220 has a very smooth ride and it is a lot of the appeal for many owners. Your family will surely appreciate a softer, smoother ride of the 16s. The 20s can make it look a bit sportier but will wear faster and ride worse.

As for where to buy them and what size that is a very personal choice. You would be much better to ask family and friends if they had a shop they were happy with and that gave them a good deal. Take a look at what is on the car right now and you will get some idea of how much wider you can go, but it won't be much-probably less than an inch.

So your 02 S500 only has 3k miles on it?

I don't expect many to agree with me, but I wouldn't go with anything bigger than 18" on a 220. I think 20s look silly. Does your car have the AMG sport package? That would make a big difference to me when picking wheels. If it doesn't have the AMG sport package, I would pick something conservative, and less sporty.

I bought these 18s for my '06 with AMG sport package and absolutley love them.

I might prefer these for a car without the AMG sport package. A little more conservative.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of the wheels (though the center caps were crap, so I replaced them with OEM blue laurel caps).

I bought these tires and couldn't be happier with them too. All-season, but definitely all the grip an S500 could ever use.

My $.02 worth. Good luck.
