2003 S500 radio will not shut off HELP!
Does the MBZ radio have a code that needs to be entered if the radio was ever unplugged? on the main cluster it saids AUDIO with 4 dashes under it

and i can't get the navigation to turn back on. if there is a code, where should i look to find it? and does the dealer charge for it?

COMAND units from '00 through '06 do not use a code. Sometime after '07, MB started using a code for COMAND units.
Audio XX units, on the other hand, do use a radio code.
I suggest going to the response at post #8, https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...2003-s430.html and trying to re-poll your D2B system - and if that doesn't work, then reset it. As a last resort, disconnect your battery for 5 minutes or so, then reconnect it. That will force the system to re-initialize.
Unfortunately, disconnecting the battery may cause many other systems on the cr to need resetting. If so, see https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...dy-resets.html

The messages you are seeing in the multifunction display are not to enter a code. They are more of an error display signifying that there is no communication with the COMAND. As Skylaw has mentioned, your headunit does job use a code.
You state your unit does not shutoff, what is displayed on the COMAND? Do any of the buttons work? Have you tried a hard reset by disconnecting circuits 15 and 30?(switched 12v & constant 12v)

looks like i have to take it out again and see if something went wrong.
if i see nothing wrong, i will try unplugging the entire unit and see if it restarts itself alive.
last thing i want to do is undo the battery. read too many people having other nightmares because of that.
