S500 vs S500 sport

Would appreciate comments regarding the regular S500 vs the sport version. With the 18"wheels, is the ride much stiffer in the sport version? Thanks

The ride is stiffer, but handling is much better. I didn't get the sport, but put 18" S600 wheels on. Looks great, handles well.

Thanks. I imagine just upgrading the wheels would not cost as much as the whole sports package which is just mainly trim work, correct? I think the standard wheels are 16" which seems small for that size of car. Could one go with 17" wheels as well? Thanks for your comments.

Yes, the 16" wheels look small, but I think the 2003's may come standard with 17". Not sure, though.
I see too many AMG wheels and similar looking wheels, and the sport package in silver doesn't do that much for me. Either way is fine. The one I found just didn't happen to have the sport package.

Thanks again. I will research this issue as there are probably multiple combinations available.

osroubek,

16/17" wheels do look too small in propo to the w220 chassis.

ps: what's your brother Karl doing these days

I switched my 16 inch wheels to 18 inch amg wheels. However, I used a non agressive tire like the michelin energy's.

I do not drive the car too aggresively around turns. They ride just like my stock 16 in comfort, but have less of that "floaty/bouncy" feeling. very impressed with them and best of all they look 10 times better and seem to flow with the car nicer.
