2002 s430 fuel sending replacement
I've researched the threads and it appears my gas gauge not reading full after filling up is almost certainly the fuel sending unit.
Anyone know where I could find basic instructions on replacing this component? Chilton's manual, etc...? Or is this better to let the dealership do it??

Pretty simple task for a half way good DIY. Open the trunk, take out the trunk liner in back. Here you can see the fuel tank. On the top you can find a large hex nut. Take off the wires, open the hex nut and SLOWLY fiddle out the fuel level sensor. It is somewhat a delicate assembly of an arm with a skimmer ..... What I found to be wrong with mine, was that the little printed circuit board (resistor signals depending on the arm's angle/gas level) on the top was slightly corroded and only needed cleaning with contact cleaner. Put it back and works perfect eversince.

Dumb question -
when you say take out the trunk liner do you mean the hard shell piece perpendicular to the carpet covering the spare tire (floor)?
