S430 wouldn't restart after short drive , please help!!

S430 wouldn't restart after short drive , please help!!
I have a 2000 s430 USA model
Have owned it for several years and it has been driving without any problems .
Last night I
Went a few miles to the store , get back in the car a few minutes later and it cranks but wouldn't start, tried several times over 10-15 minutes.
I left it in the store parking lot, came back today and it started right up.
I've seen prior threads on w220 that will not restart when warm/hot. Is this a sign of a bad crank /cam position sensor or are there other possibilities ?
Intermittent problems are the hardest to fix. I left it at a local mechanic who doesn't have mb diagnostic equipment so any tips appreciated , if he can't find a problem I guess I'll have to take it to mb specialist , but if they can't replicate the problem I really don't Want to just keep driving till it died again

Mechanic found no fault codes. Changed the CPS anyway per my instruction. $125 part and $90 diagnostic and installation labor . Pricey but not too bad. At least that isnt as much other shops have charged people. (yes I know I could have done it, bought the part for $45, saw the youtube video, etc).
Hopefully this solves the problem.
I also bought a cheapo $15 CPS off ebay just to keep in the car as a spare, along with the spare Airmatic relay. Those are 2 things that can leave a w220 stranded so its good to keep them in the car.
