Just did my brakes front and back.. they were still above 50% but I replaced them because they would turn my wheels black in a week or less. I have never known brake pads to make a huge difference in stopping, but the Akebono, or however you spell those are absolutely AMAZING. Not only do I not have any brake dust coated wheels but before I always felt like my brakes weren't stopping that great.. I would press the pedal to stop at a light and they would just seem like they weren't biting like they should.. Always felt like I wasn't stopping, if I pressed harder I could stop on a dime.. but it still wasn't right. I put these pads on and wow! What a difference.. I have to be careful with my pedal because they bite a million times better. I barely hve to hit the pedal and I can feel the car stopping right away.. No idea how a brake pad could make this big of a difference unless the old ones were just junk or defected.. but they are the only thing I will use from here on.

Just brought car back from a quick check at dealer. Not bad report i think?Dealer sez; Rear brakes need changing in about 1k miles $589 for just rear pads and rotors mind you rotors are thicker than my glasses and they r pretty thick, valve gasket oil leak to fix 122 for part and 700 for labor ok i was born yesterday tell me more. and need new tires all around i already knew that. I figure if rotors are not scored why cut them, what you think? Did you replace brake pad sensor when you did brakes? I just thaought about it, is it a hassle to get to the valve cover to do that job?????? Thanx for in put.

I did not hit my sensors therefore I didn't replace them, they were very easy to just pop off and push back on. Valve cover isn't hard as much as time consuming. Most people do it with spark plugs.

I replaced all my pads with EBC red stuff pads from Summit Racing. I couldn't be happier. The brakes definitely have more bite than before. They were squeaky for the first few thousand miles (2-4K?), but they seem to have quieted now. If you want to go the stock route, mymercedesparts.com is just an MB dealer in the Atlanta dealer, so their parts are all MB. I've had good experience with them too. Good luck.
