S500 Buy it or not
Hi all, I found an 05 S500 w/only 30k on her locally here in middle FL where there's little choice in anything used(boats, bikes etc). I've not seen it yet, asking 24k for it. I like them well enough but are they disasters mechanically as rumor has it? Would you buy yours all over again? Thanks

Not necessarily a disaster.
Considering however the many "horror" stories at the forum, a pre-purchase inspection at a MB dealer or at a indpendent specialized workshop is an absolute must.
And dont forget, the happy and satisfied MB guys do not complain, and as such are under-represented in the threads.
Also, a surprisingly large number of problems are repaired by the owner home mechanics. So get prepared and read the forum.

That's true-I think the ratio of complaints to compliments is like 17:1. Pre purchase survey is paramount. That's why I bemoaned missing this one.
The seller was surprised I called yet it came out in today paper again...
