alternator or regulator
can anyone tell me if you can replace just the regulator in the V12 water-cooled alternator. unfortunately I live outside the states and my indy shop and dealer just say " alternator bad need replace". I read another post that says you should check the regulator and see if it is bad first. unfortunately I do not have the tools to do this. is it easy to pull and replace the regulator? I find it hard to believe the whole alternator went bad overnight. it is not making any noise, no bearing squealing sounds, belt is tight or anything, just will not charge. there is a big difference in $50 for regulator, than a new alternator $$$. any help appreciated.

Hmm,
I'm having a hard time finding a picture of it. Based on the picture of the regulator http://www.americanenginesco.com/ser...cedes-C/Detail it looks just like the one used on some BMW water cooled alternators and those are not hard to change once you remove the cover.
