Prices
Bekkers seems like they're going to be the ones carrying these modified lights. Here is a pricing breakdown. If we can get 5 or more people, I am pretty sure we can get some group discounts.
2003 Bi-Xenon lights
$1,320.00/side or $2,640.00 a set
Plug and Play Modification (Labor & Parts)
$450.00/side or $900.00 a set
Headlight installation
$150 (depending on installer)

Annsonne,
Thanks for the data. I have interest although the cost is starting to get to the choke point.
On the installation cost. Did you get a body shop to do it, an indie repair shop or the dealer?
Don't why some feel compelled to point out other differences between the '03 and the earlier models. This exercise was alway about what it takes to retrofit the clear '03 headlights onto the earlier models.
Thanks again for the follow up.

Texcedes,
It's definitely not cheap and I wish it would be cheaper if we're able to get the parts to do the mods cheaper. If we can get a group buy going, the price would surely drop and would prevent us from having to buy the parts one at a time at full price.
Any body shop would be able to perform the installation. It's really not that difficult. The front bumper needs to be loosen (entire removal isn't necessary) at the top to pull out the lights out. The lights are in there pretty snugly. All the mounting points are the same so there really isn't much that needs to be done to install these lights. Should take no more than 30 min to do.
I think some felt the need to point out minor differences between the 03 and 02 as an excercise in sarcasm. For me, the reason I wanted to get the 03 lights is not because I want to make mine look like an 03 but I've always wanted projectors and never understood why Mercedes didn't put it on the S class before. I think projectors are much better functionally and aesthetically. I would probably leave my side mirrors as is to remind others that it's an 01 from the outside. I think I've spent enough money on my car already so pretty much this is the last time I am doing anything else to it. Maybe some amps but that's it.

Hey we were just playing around, not really trying to say anything. Just gettin some posts in! I think its ridiculous to go all out and get everything, but I think the projectors are worth it, they look much more modern compared to the old ones. I doubt most who are getting the projectors are trying to convert their car into an 03 or something.

well on the exterior, the only things they've done are bigger grill, projector headlights, new taillights, and the side mirrors. Not much of a facelift- but looks a hell of a lot different and better though.

Ansonn,
Nicely done with the new headlamp, looks great. Its difficult to convert it, I heard. but you manage to do it.GOOD JOB. Rather than factory produced, no effort at all. about that 2003 S-class. Everyone can do that, Juz go to dealer, buy an S-class buy kit and install it. what great??? do something extraordinary.
Ericktu, Did your car win any prize in the euroshowoff???

your car should not even be compared in an "euro-contest". I looked again just now to check out the other cars competing in the background... audi tt! some old 3-series trying to look new with m3 kit and hoods popped open! old a4!... and then your car! holy crap. The owner of the contest should be pulling in to check up on his business in a s-class, but he probably cant afford that. seriously, you could buy like at least 6-8 of those riced out bimmer and audi cars fully modded with yours. nothing can touch your car except treynor.

Ansonn, Performance Products already sells the 2003 Headlight sets in their newest catalogue ( halogen, aprox $1,100 and bi-zenon, aprox $2300). They claim a set has everything, including all connector pins needed for a plug and play installation and all parts are Mercedes. Are they missing something ?

AMGLAB,
If only PerformanceProducts really did have all the parts I would have save so much time and money! But yeah, I saw it in their catalog and called them up to see if it was too good to be true. The salesman was trying to avoid all the questions I had about the diffrent plugs and if there was an adapter for it and everything. He basically said that they've never sold any and they don't know if it will really work given that there is no adapter that comes with it. Also, he said he gets it from Germany and will take about 6 weeks to get so none in stock for tests. I mean this isn't the first time that they've sold something that doesn't work. They initially had some problems with the ML Bi-Xenons and they shipped with a non-working adapter. I think they got it worked out but for the S class, it's still a new thing for them and is the reason why we approached them with our modified lights.
