Would these rims work?

Hi

I'm sorry I'm really new to the forums. I do a lot of reading but never really posted. I was wondering if these tires would fit my 2002 s500. The size is 225/30ZR20. Would that rub? I'm sorry i don't really know much about tires and sizes and offsets and soforth.. So if somebody could please explain. I personally think 20s are way to big.. But a great deal came up and figured might as well see. Will these tires rub? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

the tires are small enough not to rub, but it all depends on the wheel size and offsets.

actually those tires are too small for a s class, thats a japanese import size.

S class usually used 245 35 20 up front and 275 30 20 rear

Benzat17: like I mentioned I don't know what offset is. I thought it was something you do once you have the tires and are installing them. What is it?

Tusabes: So this rim and tire set would be to small? What does 225 mean? Would that mean I just go get new tires or the rims won't work or it's perfect to use?

Offset is the measurement of where the wheel mounts to the center of the wheel. The larger the offset the more the wheel will tuck inside and the smaller the offset the closer the wheel will be to the fender.

As for the tire size, the first number (225) denotes the width, the higher the number the wider the tire. A lower offset is sometimes acheived by using spacers between the wheel & the hub.

The 2nd number (30) denotes the sidewall size, the smaller the number the smaller the sidewall.

The 3rd number (20) is for the wheel diameter.

Its the WHEEL that has an offset, not the tire. Youll need to see the numbers stamped on the wheel to know if it will fit your car. Also you need to know the BOLT PATTERN of the wheel... if its not 5x112 it wont fit your car at all.

Like I said, the tire size is small and not fill up the wheel well. But thats the least of your concerns right now, the biggest one is whether the wheel even fits.

It sounds like you dont know much about wheel and tire fitment....in that case you should NEVER buy wheels site unseen. You should buy them locally from a wheel shop, or if someone is selling on craigslist, meet them at a tire shop and have them test fitted before completing the sale.

Otherwise youre going to end up with some wheels that dont fit and youll need to turn around and sell them
