Let's guess the price! ABC Repair

88,000 miles or so currently on the beast. Guess away!
Let's hope it is simple for you.
Glad your MFD went silent for the ride home. Just be aware that there is still something going on there. IF you are still covered by a warranty then you need to get it to the shop and get it looked at. Just because the light did not come on again doesn't mean that the car fixed itself. It certainly did not come on because you were parked on a steep slope.

I think on reflection I'd rather play safe and get it looked at versus the worry of it popping at a most inconvenient time. That's why I got the warranty, might as well take advantage of it.

In case any incident happen before fixed, you may want to have a procedure handy, follow which to be safe and minimize further damage.
Here is the action list I compiled for owner with ABC, hope it helps:

Get yours checked while you can get it done under warranty and you won't regret it later. Keep us posted. K
At $800 for that flush job I declined and said I'd monitor the situation closely.
At $800 for that flush job I declined and said I'd monitor the situation closely.

Find another dealer or simply talk to the service manager and ask him "WTF"
Since we are talking $489 for just parts I'm thinking the flush wasn't that far out of line? However, I think it is quite possible that the filter getting clogged could affect the flow of fluid through the system. You MAY be able to get away with just changing the filter which may be worth a shot for you. At $57 the price is right to give it a trial and changing it is as easy as removing the cap from the reservoir behind the driver's side headlight.

Just sayin'
Edit:
So I took a look at the system and can't readily identify where the filter would go. None of the entry points into the system seem large enough! Any help would be appreciated, I would without a doubt be the least mechanically minded individual on the site!

Mine replaced both rear struts, filled the hydralic fluid that I lost, which was a lot, and replaced both belts for just over $500. That price included the price of the belts. I bought my rear struts for $1600 for both off of Arnott's auction listing on ebay, and got back $600 of that from core. And that came back to me fast, btw...thanks Arnott!
It all depend on where you buy parts and who fixes it...These cars aren't that bad...and I live in a town with 25K ppl, with no surrounding population for 100 miles, and I have a mechanic. I know you can find one too

Rat *******s will hear from me about that one later. Fraser, I am not sure about the MB part number but my receipt says part# 105G21 003-184-61-01. A detail you may need is how to get the filter off of the filler cap. Once you have the cap out with the filter attached you compress the spring at the bottom and there is some play between the filter and cap. You can then see the little hook that catches a ring on the bottom of the cap. Release the hook and pull the spring out of the bottom of the filter. Reverse the procedure to reinstall.

Thanks! I ran that through the part search engine on www.buymbparts.biz and your part number came up the same as what mine did

Got a GLK loaner for the weekend and expect to have the car back on Monday/Tuesday.
I did have concerns that the warranty company (Chrysler Service Contracts) would wriggle themselves out of paying for the work because I hadn't performed the dealer recommended flush and filter change through the dealer a few weeks back. (Even though I changed the filter myself right after and the dealer said it more than likely wouldn't fix the problem)

I came out ahead as well with the warranty, but the appeal wore off after having to wait while they approved stuff and wait forever for payment.
