Exclamation Transmission Going Crazy!

Hey guys,

So I recently replaced all four O2 sensors on my S430 and replaced the transmission fluid(by mechanics recommendation, my car has 114k miles FYI). Since then my transmission has been going a little haywire not wanting to change gear past 2nd and has been acting up, kind of like its "slipping" on acceleration. The mechanic says its the valve control body which is responsible for the transmission and he says I have to replace it. I would like to know if any of you have gone through this before and, if so, what are your recommendations.

P.S Before replacing the transmission fluid there were two instances where the transmission went a little crazy, nothing like it is now but it did raise some concerns.

before you do anything, check the level of the transmission fluid.

also, what fluid was used?

I'll try and find out what exact fluid they used. But, hypothetically here, would an excess or scarcity of fluid make a difference?

Yes! Overfilling or underfilling the tranny can lead to all kinds of wackiness. However, there can be a plethora of things that could be going wrong. The fluid level should be checked first to rule out the obvious/simple things. I am praying for you brother. Trannies can break the bank.

Appreciate the help Keith. The Mercedes tech I took the car to said I was going to have to replace the valve control for the transmission. O.o
