S500 Water Pump Replacement
Has anyone replaced the water pump on a W220 class S500 engine. My water pump went out today and I need to replace it. I have done this on my 1999 S320 but that is a very different engine. I would appreciate any information you guys can provide.
OK, so no one could help me with a procedure to replace my water pump, but the pump was shot so I had to get this done without much information. I recorded the process I used for future reference. here is a pair of pdf files with pictures and my notes. I had to break this into two files to upload due to the file size limitation of this site. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for your excellent instructions. I saw your question about the serpentine belt and I did find the easy way to put it on and take it off. Once you have cranked the tensioner to reduce all of the tension, there is a hole that lines up with the engine that you simply place a rod through to hold the reduced tensioner position... I used a 3/4 rachet extension or a simple screwdriver of adequate length. This makes it super easy to work with alone. Hope this helps for the next time you work on the car.

Outstanding instructions. Hopefully I won't need to do it anytime soon but I'm sure that if the need arises your instructions will be an excellent benefit. Maybe you should create one of those "Dummy Books" for Mercedes owners. Again, outstanding job.
