Nothing works on the pneumatic system except the trunk CLOSES with the door switch or the trunk close button. Trunk will not open except with the key.
The doors locks, lumbar, headrests, etc. don't work.
I hate to replace the whole PSE without knowing more.
Can anybody advise? Thanks.

Smart move---find someone with factory or equal diagnostic software(MB DAS) and you will have a solution in two minutes!!

I agree with Plutoe. Don't throw money at parts until you have a diagnosis done.

Have you removed, checked and replaced the yellow 20-Amp fuse behind the right rear floor lamp?

I fixed my 2003 s500 with pneumatic close assist by disconnecting the negative battery cable after checking the fuse, headrest drop feature and four doors work fine. the trunk however stops working every few months and I must reset again. i do hear five seconds of air before the handle pulls in so I think my vacuum vessel on the trunk latch is starting to go. I have heard of others who took this out and epoxied the ports, will likely be trying this next, good luck!
