2001 S Class Motor Issue

I have a 2001 S500. I have had the car for 6 years with no major issues. It has 140k miles on it. Today driving on the highway the motor went into overdrive going from 30 mph to 70 mph with RPM at 5k. I tried to press the brakes with no result. I had to manually shift it from D to N after which the transmission went from 4th grear to 1st grear but motor kept running at RPM of 5k...after i pulled over and stried to restart the motor it starts with RPM going to 5k. wonder what could be causing that. any suggestions.

Most likely the accelerator module is going... It means the accelerator pedal assembly itself should be changed. OEM part is between $100-200 and DIY in 20 minutes.
Search the forum, write w220 accelerator in the Search and read a thread started by StephenK.

Thanks for the message. But now when I start it it stays at high RPM and the motor starts jerking right away....fault in accelerator module can do that...
