CD Changer won't play.
My CD Changer won't play. It would say loading, but will never resume playing. Anyone had similiar issue? Do you think it can be repaired or should I just replace new unit?

Mine began playing only disc 1, for the other discs, it says "loading" for a long time, but cannot load. So it must be a problem with the part which gets each disc and puts it into the player part, rather than the player itself.

From the dealership a reman unit is about $400, you trade yours for core. A brand new is about twice as much.
Even if it is repairable, a good shop is hard to come by and unlikely can save more than 50 - 80 bucks.

I had a disc stuck in the player. Before I gave up I opened the unit and tried to turn the wheels manually, it was rock solid.
Then I found a guy recommended by an electronic shop who was willing to repair it for $350 and wanted 3 weeks for the job.
At this point I turned to the dealer, next day I received a remanufactured unit for
$386 + tax. Operating fine ever since.

I repaired car audio systems for over 8 years. Our shop gave free estimates by opening the unit and diagnosing the problem. We always returned any parts replaced to the customer so that they knew that the parts had really been replaced. Other shops would just quote a repair cost just under what they knew a new unit would cost, hoping the stupid customer would go for it. Anytime you get an estimate from a someone who didn't open the unit and give you the estimate based on what is actually wrong, take your business elsewhere!
