A/C on s500

2001 s500

A/C on s500

hi, have a 01 s500sport, in so. calif....
did have a/c recharged and some sensor fixed few months ago...
anyway, is it just our car or is it all s500 class, that the a/c is just not as cold as with my lexus nor my yukon XL. ..
i leave the temp at 72deg. and it's still not that cool....
my lexus at 76deg is pushing out cold air....

what's the deal with mb a/c?
please comment on your experience with the s class a/c system vs. other manufacturer's a/c system. . ..

i have a '00 s500 and when the ac is on full power and the lowest temperature it doesn't seem to be too cold..

Our '03 S500 Sport had no problem keeping 4 passengers cool during this summer's EU heatwave. With everything on Auto, it worked like a charm.

i think all 00 S class have this problem cause my MB does not blow that cold when it gets around 100 degrees or so. i have read some other posts about the sensor not being right before as well. pretty lame that you spend 80k on a car and have to worry about this.

goto mb center and tell them to fix it, they had a recall on 00 model, but try to put the center knob on the blue position, that will make it blow out max cold, plus mine seems different too since winter, but try that first.

2007 S550 Sport

Early S models had a problem with the AC. The fix is to have the dealer replace the evaporator to a larger model, which they ended up doing in the later S cars. They also changed the glass to reflect more heat. Its a known problem. You can have the dealers do this, but be warned... they have to remove the whole dash to get this done. It's a long job. I had to bring my car back several times because they were not able to put the dash back correctly (rattles mostly).
