Car was originally black. I mainly got tired of the upkeep and swirl marks the paint would accumulate over time. Plastidipped the entire car, best part of it all is its not permanent and works as a protective coating for you vehicle. If I choose to change the color down the road I just simply spray over the matte black finish, or If I ever want to go back to factory paint finish it will simply peel like a sticker. In my opinion it beats a vinyl wrap any day of the week (cheaper too).
It looks fantastic. I'm still thinking about doing the blue on my BMW 2002. I tried the stuff on my stock wheels and it came out great. Prep was a pain, but overall was worth it. What wheels are on your car?

My brother actually did his car in blue. Not much of a fan of the blue so he mixed 3 gallons of blue with just over half a gallon of white.

How many cans of paint and total time/cost?
I actually used 4 gallons of sprayable Plasti Dip . A project of this size would n't come out well using cans.
No, that blue is awesome! You have to put it on the right car...that saab isn't quite right, and our W220's aren't either. They look good on the mustangs and jags...
Excuse my ignorance but what happens at the door edges? Is there a transition? Are the sills still gloss? I'd be interested to see some door open close up shots?
I am a big fan of the Matte/Flat for race cars, some on regular cars as well.
Yours turned out great to my suprise, I have seen some on this forum turn out not as well as yours. Your brothers Saab is good as well. I like the blue but I think the rims throw off the color, by having different or a lip as well it would be better than how the picture depicts it to be.
Overall nice job.

In order to get the door edges and sills you have to open the doors. Picture this stuff as a plastic covering that goes on like paint. While on it feels like a rubber compound. Watch this video

Thanks for bringing up this topic, it is really cool stuff.
Only wondering how long it coud last. Seems not too strong to hold.
Please report back so we have the first hand information,
I am curious....what about the plastidip after 3 years on the car ?
How was the cleaning of the car ? I previouly done it on my Hummer H2 in matte Black and the cleaning was a pain, obviouly impossible.
any comments of members who done it ?
