Transmission is DONE!!!!

Ok Gents,

I posted this weekend that I was having acceleration issues... well after taking my beast to the shop I was told that it was the drum assembly in the transmission that was falling apart. My car has 108,000 miles is this normal wear? Also, I was quoted 6g's for repair can anyone give me advice on a cheaper option? Any help would be appreciated.

Could you continue your original post which will give members the whole picture. And I would like to reply there.

Thanks.

Try Eurotrans in GA. They quoted me @ $2200.00 for my 04

S600 and that was complete including install.

Cheapest is to get a good used one and have it installed

I got a used trans for $500 off a forum member parting out their car , and had it installed for $400

IMHO I recommend having it rebuilt. Had a friend who purchased a used transmission and insisted it being a "used" unit rather than having a rebuilt one so he ran out of luck and the transmission went after 2 months.

If it went in two months , it sounds like they didn't do something right. Even when buying used, replace filters , fluids, etc. sounds like he just found it, shoved it in there, and didn't prep well at all . I've seen salvage places offer some 30 day to 90 day warranty on a part too
