Benz is Best

Benz is tops in my book. 7 Series Bimmers are ugly as sin. Lexus has no personality, its like riding around on your couch.

vraa, is the Airmatic only Benz (2000 S500) supposed to ride better than the newer ones with ABC? I never knew that.

I screwed up and posted this as a new topic when I was just trying to reply to the other one.
Yes, the older 7's look better. I almost bought one. I still have my 90 735iL, what a great car. Later.

LOL! Looks like everyone hates the messenger

I can't pinpoint it right now, mainly because I have homework I need to finish touching up, but a couple people (Karma, MercMechanic, and some others) verified that of the Four W220's (gas ones, not diseal, and the widely avalible ones) the S500 had the best ride quality. The 55 and 600 both had ABC and the S430, I can't remember.

I'm going back to a 7 series. I've had an S430L for about 6 months now and I have covered 7,000 trouble strewn miles with two road side breakdowns.

The car is four years old and has done only 77000 miles.

In the last few months:

Total Gearbox Failure
Water Pump failure
Cat failure
Rear AC failure
Heater controls broken

This was about it for me - then the belt roter holder came apart on the end of the crank last night in the rain near sheffield. No cooling, no power steering, etc.

Got to go!!! I going back to a 7 series - I've had two 740 before the Merc (I admit I may have been unlucky to IMHO they last better and take hard driving better).

The car is superb when running well. Mercedes service has also always been pretty good but the product had been pith poor.

Mate, sorry about your loss of confidence, I know how ya feel. But do remember that although a Merc should last a lifetime, your S-class is kinda '99 if I'm right and first year of production, so? And the 430 has been kown to give problems? Still doesn't justify the trouble you endured.
