2001 S430
Can Airmatic struts be rebuilt at home?

Got a bad front strut would like do it on the cheap. It's a 2001 S430.

That's a good question , while I wouldn't say rebuilt I did manage to fix a leak simply by unscrewing the top of the inlet and installing another one through the rubber.

Depends on whether it is in internal failure of the strut, or an upper seal. If an internal failure, no. If an upper seal, yes. See the Airmatic portion of http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...tart-here.html - there are several ways to approach the problem.

2001 S430
It feels like the leak is at the bottom of the rubber boot. It is hard to tell. I am pretty sure that is where the leak is. When I jack the car up I can hear air being sucked into the strut.
