is it possible?

it crossed my mind although i doubt i'd actually do it myself.. i saw a complete dash being sold on ebay which belonged to a '03 ash interior w220. my question was would it be possible to make the swap from a '00 dash to a '03? meaning swap the comand and dash buttons as well? here's a link to the auction:

Woah. I bet a body shop can do it. Not sure if a MBZ dealer will touch it. Although... It IS original MBZ parts.

This guy run a chop shop or what? Are these parts from a wreck?

dont know. i asked him before if the switch is possible and he said "it is totally different". but i don't see why it shouldn't work? i already have the 03 taillights, i'd love to get the 03 headlights and side marker signals.

If i had to take an educated guess, I think it will work. Why? Because the new nav system works with the OLD cds, and take a close look at the buttons, they're exactly the same, even the climate control buttons. So from the outside, it's just a facelift. I bet all the internals are the same, including wiring. Only thing different is the bigger LCD screen.

But getting a shop to do this is another story. I wish I had the technical know how to do it myself, I would. $500 sounds very resonable to me too.

Too bad this isn't my interior's color, I'd buy it for the NAV system alone.

Since they have changed the button placement I would think a new wiring harness would be neccesary. Also, didn't they change the trim at the doors when they restyled the dash.

Keep this in mind - the dash is robot installed at the factory with epoxy coated bolts. Chance of rattles/squeaks extremely high after disassembly.

Remember that the dash buttons interface with the CAN. If there is any circuitry difference between the old CAN and the new CAN, then the dash will not work.
