Cluster lights flickering

Curious as to whether anyone has come across dash lights flickering on a 2003 s500? Just noticed it last night. Not shutting off and back on but a slight flicker now and again.

The clusters are under a 10 year recall . If you can repeat the problem in front of a mb dealer they should replace it free , but you better hurry !!!

flickering dash light recall

We just bought a 2001 S430. My wife said the dash lights started flickering tonight during rain. How do I look up the recalls? Thank you!!

Stop by your MB dealer and tell them you cluster lights are blinking. The first thing they will tell you is that it will cost about $1600. Tell them you understand there was a recall and want to know if your car is covered. They will probably say no but be persistent and talk to the Service manager if you have to.

Thank you!
RBM Atlanta and MBUSA is saying my VIN# is not included in the recall # 06V028. I am waiting on a call from the Service Mgr. It seems like it should be included since it is the same issue.

my 05 just started flickering just the speedo. I still fall under the extended warranty for another year or 2, so I'll wait till they go out and have it replaced.

I found out from a friend mine that it is not a recall but a warranty extension for 10 years from original date of purchase of the vehicle. Mine is a 2003 and is out by time. If it was technically a recall there is no limitation on time or miles. But unfortuneatly is looks like mercedes got away with just extending the warranty on that part. Manufacturers can get away with that from time to time.

there was a recall on certain vins, but the extended warranty included all w220s for 10 years from in service date.

SM from RBM in Atlanta confirmed this. He said the ext warranty has run out and my VIN wasnt included in the recall. Well my wife said it was a minor flicker so we will wait and see. I did notice the car lowering itself about an inch when I turned it off and got out. I didnt notice that before. We have only had it since 9/27/13. 88,000 mles. I was trying to bless my awesome wife with something really nice. Hopefully it will turn out to be a blessing and not something else. Thanks for your help!

To MTrow, you did bless her with something nice but when you own an MB expect some bumps in the road. I am on my third vehicle and dispite the bumps love them. I had problems with my Instrument Cluster, (Dead) and the dealer dismissed my recall claim until I started talking warranty, then they replaced it for free. I have a 2006. There are people out there that repair these units. If you strike out with the dealer search the forum for this information, but don't let it go on to the point where it is not repairable.

Once the lights start to flicker, the cluster WILL burn out. Mine did just a few months ago. I was still under warranty - but the cluster can be repaired for a LOT less than replacement; see http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...ml#post5758758
