72 hours of nightmares

This should go down in the history books as one of the absolute worst days any individual can have with their car. The last 3 days have just completely drained me. I just got the energy and time to write my story. I hope no one else ever has consecutive days like this.
.
.
DAY 1:

Thanks to Corkshoppe I was able to diagnose a leaking rear airmatic strut.. I couldn't tell if it was the valve or shock but the culprit was definitely the shock. Thursday, I went to the shop to have a airmatic strut installed. The first shock that went on was faulty, held air but wouldn't adjust. We then had to go through the pain of installing a another airmatic shock. Then is not a simple task for the faint of heart BTW. Getting the rear control arm bolt out is not simple nor putting it back in. When the lowered the car to install the airline and tighten the top bolts. After that the mechanic raised the car to make sure everything was tight and as soon as it got to about 5 feet in the air it came crashing down front first with the rear hanging of the rear of the lift....Im not going to try to explain all the horrific feelings and emotions that went on when lower the rear of the car as it ripped the side trim off and other stuff but to make a long story short. 3 salvaged parts cars later and 4 hours I was back rolling

Day 2:
I returned to the place to use the Star System on now Friday. Things were busy so I figured I would come back later. As I left I made a U turn and a truck turning into the street that I was making the U turn on ran into me from the back of me. We pulled over, some short conversation about he not wanting to call the police, then, he hoped in his truck and ran. Now, my thoughts at this moment. Does he really think a old *&%^$ avalanche truck is going to pull away and escape a Mercedes S500. I chase while on the phone with 911 till we get to a residential area. I guess he thought he couldn't loose me in the open road, lets try the streets...Sport mode II engaged continuously for the first time.... Lets just shorten this story. Guy goes down a dead end , jumps the truck, runs on foot, and I was about to give chase until the 911 operator said he might have a GUN.... So , I sit down and wait for the police.... There's more drama here after this but im going to keep that part short and just say im glad to have unisured motorist coverage right now....

.
.
.
Day 3.
So today, this Saturday. Im feeling down, my cars been through heck, ive been through heck, I decide to you know what, were damaged, but, your going to shine clean while your damaged,,,don't ask, im crazy.. So I bring it to the car wash with my jacked up bumper for the moment and broken rear light. THE CAR WASH RIPS THE MERCEDES LOGO OFF THE HOOD... Im done. Im done. The will get a new hood ornament Monday so for now I have no symbol. I feels really really weird driving a s class with no emblem. looks sporting for the moment though. The car wash also agreed to professionally restore my headlamps for free, again, gotta wait till Monday..

.
.
.
.
So there, that's my story, Im tired, my cars tired. and tomorrow, we are just both going to rest. I did take a picture out the car wash though. damaged and beaten she still looks beautiful. I have no regrets with this car...
.
.
Keep Folks...

So mostly everything is fixed. Its been rough, but all is repaired, and its actually better than it was before. I like the new wheels, they are 19 instead of 20 but there the ones that were on the w220 s63 and I think it looks more like a high class benz plus the ride is superb(20's are just to big), even got the headlights professionally restored with a new hood emblem that is extremely shiny. guess 11 years of road makes it a little dull. I thought so many times I was going to lose my car again. Not sure why I am attached to this S Class model, and, I really like this one. paint work, high speed buffing, and it truly feels like a brand new car right now. I cant imagine it running any faster, smoother, or looking any better than it did when it was bought. Plus, im getting more compliments on it now that ever. Just letting you guys know all it good now. Back to a somewhat normal life now, lol.

Not much to say, Bought it new. Kept it mostly in the garage back then, was driving a bmw740il AC shintzerd or however you spell it back then as my everyday car. It was night time. relaxing in the house then the door bell rings... I lived in a gated community at the time and assumed it was one of the neighbors, never worried about opening the door before and some guy held up a gun and wanted the keys...without question I tossed it to him. after which i saw my car drive off. Now it gets better..... yeah I know

At the time I had the Mercedes whatever system in it and was paying yearly for it. Waited a few moments, called the police and Mercedes and they coordinated to get the car back. It was found in the neighbors garage down the street.. got it back, sold it within 48 hours and never looked back....

Your neighbor held a gun on you and robbed your car, .
And he drove home and parked the big sedan in his garage,

He is crazy, can't imagine, he must loved your S55 so much and for so long.
Do you ever know how he ended up with?

The neighbor was a big time drug whatever. Uncle Sam came in and handled him a few years later. When your moving that much money around, you may avoid the police , but , the Feds will find you. And it was I'm guessing the neighbors friend. He , himself didn't actually come to the house. It was just in his garage

That is quite a series of tales. vmystikilv - glad you and your car(s) are (finally) OK.

I am reminded of having lived in Puerto Rico many years back. One of my friends lived in a nice-looking community with burglar bars not only on the windows and doors, but even on the garages; theft was a problem even in many nice neighborhoods. One day his child's bicycle was stolen; he saw it locked in a neighbor's garage, 2 or 3 doors down. He questioned his neighbor, who called his own son out, and said "I have told you and told you, do not steal from our neighbors!!"

Not "don't steal" - "Don't steal from our neighbors." Wow.
