2001 S600 abc accumulator locations? Drops 1/2 inch every day
Ok, so I have done a lot of research but without the mercedes repair library and star diagnostics, I'm kind of at a loss on info.
I'm trying to find all the locations of the abc accumulators on my car.
I have a 2001 s600 v12. I have done a lot of research but I don't really see any good diagrams.
I would appreciate if someone would let me know the exact locations and quantity of the abc suspension accumulators.
My car had a bad accumulator and the place I bought the vehicle from said they replaced the drivers front side accumulator.
After 6 days of owning the car, it is dropping 1/2 on the drivers side. They replaced that accumulator as it was leaking and causing a loud hum.
The vehicle no longer hums or leaks but the dropping every day 1/2 inch only on the drivers side is driving me nuts. It does it in about 4 hours.

P.s. I already took the car to the mercedes dealership, they performed a filter change, then a rodeo and then another filter change. It still drops 1/2 inch of the drivers side with no leaks. The vehicle responds like normal when driving and levels out when driving. No warning lights and it shows no malfunction on the dash.

MB 2003 S600. Volvo 2003 XC70.
Drop is valve body when no leak, nothing to do with accumulator or damper.
Replace fluid and filter is regular maintenance, however for 12 years old ABC this is less likely a cure for your problem.

I had a feeling it was the valve body.
However, I am hoping someone would be able to tell me the locations or if there is a diagram of the accumulator locations.
Reason why I ask is so when I go to look at the car while it's on the lift, they are supposed to show me the accumulator they replaced. I could have sworn I seen the accumulator they said they replaced and it looked used.
I haven't even registered the car yet, I'm about to call the bank and get a lawyer due just in case the dealer tries to get shady about this. The car also has an oil leak and all oil leaks were on the list if promised things to be fixed. The owner of the dealer thought mercedes did the repair, the sales guy got cheap to save money and had a small mechanic who doesn't really know anything about abc suspensions work on it. When I told the owner of the dealer, he looked pissed. I called mercedes, they said the sales guy brought the car in and they diagnosed the issue and took the car elsewhere to be fixed.
In a nutshell, either the oil cooler is leaking or the rear main seal. Both expensive and also the abc suspension is gonna end up an expensive fix.
I might end up making them take the car back and get something else.

I'm going to. However with the suspension issues, they did fix the abc leak and humming sound. Trying to convince a used car dealership that their repair caused further damage is a pain in the ***. Used car dealers usually try to weasel their way out of things. I'm sticking to it but if this gets to crazy, I'm just going to call my lawyer.

The valve, when malfunctioning, will leak hyd fluid from the high pressure side to the low pressure side.
The HP side keeps the car "up".... car droops as internal leakage occurs....there will be no visible leak associated with this failure. When engine is off, there is no "pressure", but the hp side fluids just holds the car level (fluid non-compressible).
You may actually have leaks due to other conditions, but the "droop" over short period "may" be caused by this hydraulic valve failure.

Looks like I'm going to be suing. They decided they won't honor the warranty or even the paper work showing what they promised to fix! Oh joy what a lovely "-&:&;" day.

Sorry, S600 is anything but cheap.
If bought cheap and everything will be covered, for me, too good to be true.
Even if all promises excuted, I believe the seller may end up with loss, you will still be facing heavy bills in the future for this year/model combo.
In case you have another chance, buy 2003+, which is better, especially for regular owner.

I knew the car wasn't cheap to fix.
It's the principal that the dealer will not honor thier warranty nor fix the oil leak they were supposed to fix before the purchase. I have the promise in writing of the items they were supposed to fix and only 3 of the 4 were fixed right. The oil leak was 1 of them and they didn't fix it. Cleaned it up and almost a week later the oil leak came back.
They are probably thinking I'm just going to go away like most people would. However I don't mind going to court. I've sued people before and I'm not afraid to do it again. I don't like to do it but like I said.....it's the principal.
I'm not worried about the car being cheap or expensive. It's a 3rd car to tinker with. However I wouldn't mind trading it for a 2003 bi turbo s600. I would rather have the turbos and the extra power! Nothing like gobs of horsepower!

Also if I haven't mentioned, I used to be a mechanic. Many ASE certifications. However I'm not as familiar with mercedes and their hydraulic suspension but I'm doing my research. Im going to be doing my own repairs. I am purchasing star diagnostics along with the mercedes wis repair library. I still have all my tools from when I used to be a mechanic. I specialized in suspensions, alignments, wiring diagnostics and engine rebuilding.
The only 2 things that worry me are automatic transmissions as I'm a fan of the manual transmissions simplicity and the oil cooler on this specific car. I really don't want to remove the cylinder heads on this beast but fortunately the oil cooler is not leaking. The rear main is an easy job IMO.
However the s600 I have has a clean carfax and never been wrecked, heavily serviced on time from 1 of the local mercedes dealers from day 1, the previous owner was a doctor who lives locally. Its beautiful inside and out. Rides great and has a fair amount of power. I just wish it was a 2003 bi turbo.
