BLINKING LIGHTS

Have an '02 S500. When I press the lock button on the key fob, the lights blink a couple times to let me know the car is locked -- normal. What it's decided to do lately is that after the 2-3 normal blinks it starts blinking the front and back fog lights on/off and keeps doing that until I press the unlocked then lock buttons again. It then stops blinking. Any idea what's going on?

Your alarm system has a battery that is independent of the main car battery. The blinking lights may be an indication that the alarm system battery is failing. Replacing the battery requires replacing the alarm unit in the wheel well. The problem and solution are described in the W220 S-Class Encyclopedia at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...tart-here.html

Thank you, Skylaw. The beauty of this forum is that no matter how weird a symptom may be, somebody has an answer. Car is going in for service shortly so I'll have them take a look at this.

Now we've got a new problem. Parked the car in the garage on Friday morning. It is now Saturday evening. Went to go out to dinner and the car is D.E.A.D. I had one battery charger that will only charge if it senses it's connected to a battery, like it needs to sense at least 1 volt. That charger will not work. Bought another one and connected it. Indicator light says it's charging, but after about 30 minutes, I'm getting nothing. Lights on dash don't go on when the door is opened, etc. Seems odd that this has happened after just taking the car in for diagnostics and them clearing all the stored codes. Will leave it on overnight and see what happens in the morning. The charger I bought is suppose to sense when the battery is full and shut down without overheating the battery.
