2006 s 430 Bluetooth

Can anyone tell me if the standard Comand system in the 05-06 S class allows for Bluetooth phones? Not looking to stream music, just hands free talking.

Thanks,

Do you have a phone cradle in the armrest ? There are bluetooth adapters you can plug into it. It will either be a Motorola v60 cradle or Nokia cradle . $100-300 for the adapter depending what you need

If you have no cradle at all, there are other adapters but they get more expensive as you need more parts

Or you can get a universal kit but its not integrated as nicely

The '05-'06 S-Class definitely allow for bluetooth. If you're in North America check http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...ades-plug.html for the MHI system.

The one problem you may encounter is the prewiring. The '05 came standard with prewiring (which is nothing more than harnesses, minus any electronic equipment); in the '06 it was an option. To find out whether you have the prewiring option, have your dealer run a Vehicle Master Inquiry (VMI) and check for code 359 "Teleaid low-cost USA with cell phone preinst. UPC"

The "Preinst" is preinstalled, and refers to the necessary harness. If you have tele-aid, but without the "pre-inst" then adding a phone system become more difficult.

The link I gave you shows how to tell instantly if you already have the basics of a Bluetooth installation - the MHI contact plate in the center console. See post #5 in that link.

There are also iPod integrations that allow for both telephony and music - do a web search on Dension Gateway and mObridge. Those systems can be added to your fiber optic loop and will play through COMAND (and your existing audio system). See also http://www.benzworld.org/forums/audi...hancement.html
