Trunk Will Not Open, Even with the key
2000 S430
Trunk does not open with the key. As you turn it counter clockwise, you feel it catch at the 30 degree mark but the trunk does not open. Key does turn all the way to the 90 degree position.
The trunk did open twice using the key.
I have read at least 8 different "trunk will not open" threads but none of them had an example of mine.
Thanks for your help.

There are two 90 deg positions - one opens the trunk, the other disables the electrical releases. Try both directions while pushing down on the trunk lid.

You have to squeeze handle while turning steel valet key
I was this close (making small space with fingers) to jacking into some appropriate connector in the underhood relay box on US driver's side when my 2006 E350 (W211) battery was dead stone cold flat after months parked, and the steel key that I knew was good wasn't opening the trunk, when I gave it "one last try". I had forgotten that not only do you have to turn the valet key counter clock wise to the 90 degree position, you have to hold it in that position when you squeeze the handle to pop the trunk open. Took just a second with the right trick. Turn... squeeze... open... release.
