comand firmware disk $600.00...what the ?
I decided to purchase W211589142200 comand firmware update. It was discussed on the forum as an inexpensive $15-25 dollar item.
I have put the purchase on hold. $600 more or less on several websites.
Am I looking in the wrong place(s)?

He's referring to the firmware update, not the latest maps. I had heard it was around $25 for my W211, but I managed to find a torrent of it (this was four years ago, no idea where now). I would suggest searching for copies of it online.

Since the workshop is not allowed to sell it, he seems to want some extra margin for the risk.
However such updates have always the risk of rendering the unit unusable especially if no external power is attached.
Typically such a updated is here free of charge when combined with a service...

I have only looked in the official pricelist...
But I'am in Germany, not in the US. If you are willing to risk upfront payment with me i could check whether its available and my dealer is willing to sell.
