You might ask them about sending both units and see if they can give you one back that will work with your car and key.

That's a very good idea, i had not thought about that. It seems you are assuming changing the sam will not help?

We don't know what got wet , only you do.

Everything electrical that got wet should be considered damaged . Even if it work now it will fail once corrosion gets worse

Both front fuseboxes got wet nothing else. Everything inside works just fine. I do get esp malfunction message. Not cranking and fan going full speed could be caused by getting water in the ecu from what i read, could the sam or anything else cause this as well?

Every single component in both fuse boxes including the Sam should be replaced

That sounds costly. There are various boxes is saw i did not take out as of yet. What are the other boxes and do they also need to be programmed?

I then got under the car to check for the starter and i can't feel any click, nothing. So i guess no power and no need to take out starter. Taking out the starter seems pretty difficult by the way. Does that mean ECU is faulty? Cable seems fine although i can barely see it.
So i took out right front sam, the one next to the ecu. There are a few marks of water no rust though. I will order a new sam anyway. Sam is plug and play i have read. Can someone confirm this because i had also read that ecu was plug and play. I think i will wait for the sam to arrive and if that does not fix it i'll send the ecu to Miami for repairs.
I admire your dedication

What is all this costing you in total?

A lot of money. Which i would not have had to spend if i had put back the covers.

Ok so far i ordered 2 sams
Transmission, , esp and suspension computer i have not bought yet, costs a lot more and is difficult to find. I will ship the ECU this week to the repair guys.

For the parts and ecu repair it will be about 1200$, shipping to South America included.

At first i thought you were exagerating until i took out the boxes. They all got wet. The tranny computer is dripping some oily brown water stuff on my desk at this very moment.

Unfortunately I was not exaggerating .

There may even be additional damage due to the water as there are many other electrical components in the engine compartment besides the fuse boxes too

If you are willing to go to the trouble, you can try cleaning each of the units. Washing with pure alcohol will sometimes get things working again. If you can't get alcohol any other way, 180-proof gin, vodka, etc. will work.

A friend and I cleaned the transmission module in his S430, and that go the transmission shifting properly again. Almost a year ago, and so far, so good. We used brake cleaner in a spray can, but we were cleaning ATF, with no water. Alcohol will do better on the water...

I hope the other parts did not get water. Everthing underneath the fusebox covers got wet because the cover was not in place. What else could be damaged.

The TCU for one did not get water in it. It got tranny flood. I never thought a car with less then 20k miles would give me so much trouble. I read in other topics that it might be saved. If not i'll have to send it to the ecu repair guy as well because the tcu as the ecu needs to be programmed by dealer it seems.

I have my shocks and compressor ready to be reinstalled, car is on jack stands now. I go all the way now. All my savings are going directly into this lemon and i will not give up.

The transmission shifted fine when i drove the car last time 2 months ago. I'm going to clean it using contact cleaner, i used contact cleaner for the ecu as well but that did not fix my no crank, fan full speed problem. I have to wait for the sams to arrive to try anything now since i broke one open and it does not seem to close ever again. I'll ship the ecu to the repair guy in Miami this week, it will take about a month to get it back. I'll try alcohol for the suspension and esp computer if i can't find them cheap on ebay by the time the ecu arrives.

I opened the tcu to clean it and the condensor has come loose. I have a tcu from a w211 with other part number but it is exactly the same. All chips and numbers on the circuitboard seem to match. There are some rusty spots on the board.

The loose component appears to be fairly common. The polarity is critical. If you can tell from the solder or the impressions on the board, great. If not, do some research on line - there are some photos showing this. Sorry that I don't have a url or reference for you. Just be certain to get the polarity correct!

Yep, that's the rascal! Thanks for posting the photo - this might really help the next person with the problem.

Skylaw - It would be great if this photo could make it to the encyclopedia.

They're not exactly the same - in the picture on the left - there is a round silvery component located near the top right side of the larger silver rectangle

Well that is the condensor that came loose you are talking about i think. I'm going to have to resolder it.
